It drew strength from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold

There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after the children fall

immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.

Let's remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the & L, E3 f+ o6 ?# G
banner of the Republican Party to the White House, a party founded on the
/ p4 m* a- u& rvalues of self-reliance and individual liberty and national unity.

$ l H5 F( E( @5 _ q* ^$ qThose are values that we all share. And while the Democratic Party has won 6 T0 j: x& b* S3 A) Y' o, f+ C
a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and

As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, we are not enemies

line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing: Ann

- O1 V- o7 Z, J' I0 R: X' }- kShe was born just a generation past slavery; a time when there were no cars

At a time when women's voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed, she

When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the land, she

$ Y6 Z& g' G( l; V% ]+ q5 dcommon purpose. Yes we can.

. g' |7 P# g1 HWhen the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world, she was
& V/ t k; @7 K: y7 ethere to witness a generation rise to greatness and a democracy was saved.

5 a* `) q x2 G+ a2 X! u8 nShe was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham, a

A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin, a world was
9 v* Y B5 p/ o2 k% f/ {connected by our own science and imagination.

And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and
9 J: c0 ~! w$ c6 T+ m) N+ ]cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of
1 S8 X# | U4 R( B: ^# ctimes and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change.
